Time Flies

On Saturday we celebrated Logan's tenth birthday. He loves sports and just finished fall soccer and baseball. His request for birthday gifts was "
sports stuff" and everyone delivered.
It does not seem like it has been that long ago since I received the call during a Missionette sleep over that Holly was in the hospital and our little guy would be arriving soon!
Logan is a very busy and hard working boy and this mamaw is very proud to have him in her life!

Words

I have been thinking a lot  today about the words we say to others.

Swearing is crude and is offensive to many people.  Sometimes people swear (or cuss) because they think it is funny or impressive to their friends. Other people are so irritated with a situation that they feel it is the only way to "let off steam."

Today I had a conversation with someone that didn't like the language that they heard about someone else using. Later in our conversation they proceeded to talk about someone and actually used the phrase, "someone needs to rip her hair out!"  I'm sorry, but I have trouble seeing where this is a better use of words than the person who swore. Rip someone's hair out? Wouldn't that physically bring pain to someone?

I am by no means saying that swearing is a way to express ourselves, however we need to think about the way we use the "non-swear" words.

I decided to print off some Bible verses about "our words."  Here are a few of what I found.

"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer." Psalm 18:21 ESV

There is one whose rash words are like sword thrust, but the tongue of the wise brings healing" Proverbs 12:18 ESV

"Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear." Ephesians 4:29 ESV

And lastly..

"For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." Hebrews 4;12 ESV

Thank you for letting me let of some steam!
